How is freedom interpreted differently today than in the 1700's?

  1. Well, in the 1700's, before the declaration of independence, there werent many laws but not much freedom either. With the decleration, it establishes rights that we have as a person and freedom.

  2. Our freedom today is differently than it was in the 1700's because back then people ruled over others, no one had freedom, and freedom was decided by money and society.

  3. In the 1700's their was no laws, and very little freedom, people had to do what they were told, and had no excuses. Now with the decleration of independence, everyone has the right to be free.

  4. I suppose that because of the variety of resources that people have now, communication, entertainment, transportation, freedom has become something that no longer amuses us and is sometimes taken by granted, I think that because of this technology people are just free because they get to do stuff easier.

  5. its differnent today because in the 1700's we really didnt have the freedom to do much they were told what to do and obey certain laws that were out of proportion and this freedom was affecting whites but as well as immigrants ,blacks, etc. now we have more expression, choice of religon and speech which is the most important and its for everyone not just for a certain race.

  6. Well i think we start to take it for granted because today we dont think alot about how we have the freedom to do certain things that other countries wont allow there citizens to do. back then they had just come from a place where they did not get the rights they want.

  7. I think that it is different because in the 1700s women had to stay in the house and take care of the kids and cook. They didn't have the freedom like we do now to go out and look for our own jobs, and make our own money.

  8. Freedom back then were things like freedom of speech, freedom to vote as long as you were over the age of 18, freedom to just in general be free (not have a master or anyone "owning" you). Now freedom is portrayed as freedom to marry who you want and keep or kill the child you're carrying. It's still an important subject today yet i has very different controversies then back then

  9. Freedom in the 1700's was like women not having the freedom to do what they wanr, and how important having the freedom to vote was, etc etc. It was much more limited. As where today freedom is only as limited as our technology and our outside resources.

  10. Today freedom is interpreted as being able to go out and do things you like to do. Like hanging out with friends stayin up late and all that shannanigens. But freedom in the 1700's was different because it was more being independent from being owned by someone or having a right.

  11. I think there is a very big difference in what freedom was in the 1700s and what we think of freedom today. In the 1700s there was less rights given to certain races and genders. The people who had less rights were more concerned with recieving their rights. In today's society we have more rights and freedom is looked at more as too going out and having fun with your friends and family.

  12. Theres a huge difference in what freedom was back then and what it means now because back then you couldn't really just be yourself and you definitely didn't have as many rights as you do today. Today we are more equal with everyone around us and with what choices we make.

  13. The freedom from the 1700s and today is very different. Because in the 1700s there wasn't a lot of freedom and people owned one another. Also now a days freedom is more like what your allowed to do like hanging out with friends or being able to get or do something. The freedoms back in the day were more serious

  16. in the 1700's freedom was just starting to happen from the british and people probably didnt know how to react to it but now we don't even think about it because everyone already has it.
